2007 Summer Institute

The fourth Summer Institute for the Social Scientific Study of Religion was held on July 16-28, 2007 at Shanghai University.  Over 80 faculty members, graduate students and undergraduate students from over 20 provinces in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Taiwan participated in it, and 80 people received certificates for fully participating in all the lectures and completing fieldwork practices.

The major lecturers were Nancy Ammerman of Boston University and Grace Davie of University of Exeter, UK.

In addition, Professor David Palmer of Chinese University of Hong Kong, Professor Pen-hsuan Lin of University System of Taiwan,  Professor Hsing-kuang Chao of  Taiwan Tunghai University, Professor Yihua Xu of Fudan University, and Professor Feiya Tao of Shanghai University gave a lecture each.

During the Summer Institute, the participants also visited some religious places in Shanghai:  Yufo Temple, Chenghuang Temple, Baiyun Temple, Xujiahui Catholic Church, and Muen Christian Church.

Anna Sun, Elisa Zhai, and Nanlai Cao served as interpreters.
