Job Opening: Postdoctoral Research Fellows

Postdoctoral Research Associates – Social Surveys in East Asia or GIS and Spatial Studies

The Center on Religion and the Global East (https://globaleast.org) at Purdue University invites applications for two one-year postdoctoral research positions starting as early as July 1, 2023, however a later start date can be considered. The positions are renewable for a second year. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.

The positions are embedded in the funded multi-national project “Global East Religiosity and Changing Religious Landscapes,” which includes surveys of individuals, mapping religious sites, and the comparative historical studies of Christianity in East Asian societies.

Position 1 (Social Survey): We are seeking an energetic and independent researcher who has a strong background in quantitative analysis of social surveys. To qualify for the position, a candidate must have completed a PhD by the time of employment, and the degree may be in sociology, psychology, political science, or related areas. Demonstrated knowledge of statistics and research experience of social surveys of an East Asian society are required. Position 2 (GIS and Spatial Studies): We are seeking an energetic and independent researcher who has a strong background in Geographical Information System, spatial statistics, and data management. To qualify for the position, a candidate must have completed a PhD by the time of employment, and the degree may be in sociology, psychology, political science, or related areas. Demonstrated knowledge of GIS and research experience of spatial studies are required. Research experience of East Asian geography is preferred.
